Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga, is known for his many epic adventures. He is one of the best-known anime characters in history, and his adventures are known and followed worldwide. But only true One Piece fans actually know about Luffy’s family and his family history, which is why we have decided to compose this article as a means of introducing you to one aspect of Luffy’s character. In this article, we are going to tell you about Luffy’s family, focusing specifically on the issue of whether he has a sister in One Piece or not.

No, Monkey D. Luffy does not have a sister in One Piece; in fact, he has no biological siblings at all, as far as it is known. He was raised by his grandfather after Dragon left him while he was still a child, and as far as it is known, Dragon did not have any children aside from Luffy. If he did, though, they would be his half-siblings, as Luffy’s unnamed mother only gave birth to Luffy as far as it is known at this moment in the story. All the “sisters” you might encounter online are fan-created characters.

The rest of this article is going to explore Luffy’s family history and, in particular, the issue of whether he has any siblings in the world of One Piece. And while we have talked about his “brothers” before, we are now going to focus on Luffy’s supposed sister and her existence in the series. If you’re not fully up-to-date with the events of One Piece, this article might contain some important spoilers, but we have to state that no new information will be presented here, as we will focus on old and well-known facts about the three of them.

No, Luffy doesn’t have a sister, and it is unlikely that that is going to change at this point in the story

The history of Luffy’s family, the Monkey family (yes, Monkey is their last name), is intriguing. We currently know three members of his family; each is quite powerful and on completely different sides of the story. Luffy’s biological father is Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, who was never present in Luffy’s life and left his son in the care of his own father, Luffy’s grandfather Monkey D. Garp, who is working for the Marines although he has been following his exploits throughout the series.

The identity of Luffy’s biological mother is still unknown; his adoptive mother was Curly Dadan. As per Oda himself, Luffy’s mother will probably never be introduced. As for Luffy, we know that he is a Pirate.

As for his siblings, Luffy does have two “brothers,” Sabo and Ace (okay, he has only one now, as Ace died, but you get the point), but the three of them are not related by blood. Due to his close friendship with Sabo and Ace and the pact they have made as children, the three of them could be considered “brothers,” but not as biological brothers. This would mean that Luffy has two brothers, but they are symbolic and not biological. This settles this, but does Luffy have any other siblings?

If you look around the Internet, you’ll find many posts related to a character labeled as Luffy’s sister. The sister usually has a different name each time, which caused a lot of confusion among fans and caused us to intervene and settle the debate. As true One Piece fans will know, Monkey D. Luffy does not have a sister. In fact, he does not have any biological siblings as far as it is known.

Oda has not hinted at there being a sibling out there, and it seems unlikely that he would introduce one so late in the story. This is why we can confirm that Luffy has no sister.

Luffy seemingly has numerous sisters… whereas he has none

But, before we actually wrap this up, we’re simply going to introduce you to the most common suspects when Luffy’s sister is concerned so that you know that you’ve located a fan-made character and not a real thing:

Monkey D. Mikasa

This character appeared in a Wattpad fan fiction by author femreader, and was described as follows:

Monkey D Mikasa is the older sister of Monkey D Luffy. She is helping her brother to achieve his dream (to become the king of the Pirates), to find a crew and so on. On their journey, they find new crew members, new friends, new adventure but also new enemies. But what is Mikasa’s dream? What’s her role in this story? And will she be able to make her nightmares stop?

Monkey D. Aika

This supposed sister appeared on the saintpirates Wikia, although it is unclear how and why the page changed. The creator of the character seems to be a user named Bige1218, but the article has been heavily edited since the original post. The original post said the following about her:

Monkey D. Aika is a young pirate-in-training, and the cabin girl of the Straw Hat Pirates, being one of the crew’s three youngest members. She is the younger half-sister of Monkey D. Luffy, daughter of Monkey D. Dragon and Kamiya, half-granddaughter of Monkey D. Garp, adoptive younger half-sister of Portgas D. Ace and Sabo, and owner of the young Akita puppy, Kumi. Her dream is to become a great pirate like her older brother when she grows older, as she continues to be brave and standing up for what’s right in the midst of a crisis no matter how many times others tell her to stay put.
