Are Star Trek movies & shows connected? do you need to watch them in a specific order?

All Star Trek movies shows, and animated series are connected through a shared universe and mythology. However, they are not necessarily connected directly since some iterations of the shows & movies are merely reboots. You can pick a generation and watch it stand-alone, especially if you’re a casual fan. However, if you’re a hardcore fan looking to brush up on your knowledge of the source material, our chronological watch order works.

Will there be more Star Trek movies & TV Shows?

CBS and Star Trek producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin have announced that new animated and live-action TV series is in development. The new series will only move forward once one of the current slate of series concludes its run. One of the new series, titled Section 31, will focus on the mirror universe’s Philippa Georgiou, and another series, Starfleet Academy, has been greenlit by Paramount+ and is set to go into production in 2024.

As far as the upcoming movies go, there are 5 projects currently in development: Untitled Mark L. Smith film, Star Trek 4, untitled Noah Hawley film, untitled Kalinda Vasquez film, and untitled Nicholas Meyer film project.

As you can see, the future of the Star Trek franchise is looking good.
