Hyūga Clan: Known Members, Symbols, Powers, Eyes, and More

The Hyūga Clan is one of the oldest and most powerful clans in Konoha. According to Neji, his clan possesses the most powerful techniques that exist. All family members are born with the Byakugan, a Kekkei Genkai giving them 360° field of vision, the ability to distinguish the chakra circulatory system and chakra cavities (Tenketsu), to see for miles and through beings and objects.

Hyūga Elder

The Hyūga Elder is the former leader of the Hyūga clan of Konoha and the father of Hiashi and Hizashi Hyūga. Hanabi Hyūga

Hiashi Hyūga

Hiashi Hyūga is a jōnin-ranked ninja from Konohagakure and the current leader of the Hyūga Clan. He is the twin brother of Hizashi Hyūga, father of Hinata, who is the eldest, and Hanabi, who is the youngest, as well as taking care of Neji Hyūga.

Hinata Hyūga

Hoheto Hyūga

Natsu Hyūga (anime only)

Natsu Hyūga is an inhabitant of Konohagakure and a member of the Hyūga Clan. She resided in the Hyūga Mansion, where she served as a maid and mentor to Hanabi, ensuring her education and training since her childhood. Neji Hyūga

Neji Hyūga was a Jōnin from Konohagakure, a member of Team Guy along with his teammates Rock Lee and Tenten. He belonged to the Hyūga Clan, one of the most powerful in Konoha for possessing one of the three famous Dōjutsu, the Byakugan. He was considered one of the strongest ninjas of his generation and was known to all as: a genius. In the Fourth Shinobi World War he was part of the Second Division.

Tokuma Hyūga

Tokuma Hyūga is a ninja from Konohagakure who is a member of the Hyūga clan. He was part of the Reconnaissance and Infiltration Squad. Tokuma has long brown hair that reaches his shoulders, as well as two long locks on both sides of his face. He also has the usual white eyes of all members of his clan. Hyūga Clan: Symbols and Structure

The Hyūga are descendants of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, specifically Hamura Ōtsutsuki. The Hyūga Clan is currently considered to be the most powerful clan in Konohagakure, their notoriety and prowess spreading, drawing praise and envy from others. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, a ninja from Kumogakure noted that they had a difficult encounter with the Hyūga during the previous war.

The Hyūga Clan’s symbol looks like a small flame trapped inside something that resembles a fan. An official explanation of this symbol’s meaning has never been given by Kishimoto, but there is a theory that claims that the symbol most likely represents chakra being trapped. While not official, this theory fits perfectly with the clan’s inherent abilities.

The clan is separated into two parts: the Main House (sōke) and the Branch House (bunke). The first directs the entire family, while the mission of second is to protect the other, being completely subordinate. The members of the Main House make their dominance over others effective through a seal that is placed on the forehead of each member of the Branch House at an early age.

By activating this seal, any damage done to someone from the main branch causes deep pain by destroying brain cells. It also serves to ensure that the clan’s abilities are not discovered by outside ninjas, since if a member of the secondary branch is captured, even if killed, the most precious secret of the clan, the Byakugan, can be obtained.

This seal can be used, in these situations, to disable this line of succession technique, preventing it from falling into the wrong hands. This seal is only removed after death. There is also a great rivalry between the branches, marked by the contempt that one has for the other. Although a member of the secondary is the most powerful of all, he could never reach the leadership of the clan, as he serves to protect the master from him.

In the past, there have been several attempts by Kumogakure to obtain the Byakugan. This even ended with the death of the Ninja Chief of Kumogakure who tried to kidnap Hinata Hyūga and was killed by Hiashi Hyūga, further causing demands for his body, in accordance with the peace treaty that both villages had signed.

Hyūga Clan: Powers and Jutsu

Hyūga Clan: Eyes (Byakugan)

The Hyūga are known and feared for their Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan. The first ability these eyes grant them is a 360º field of vision, with the exception of a small blind spot on the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. The second ability is the ability to see through solid objects, as well as a degree of telescopic sight.

The distance and the degree to which the telescopic sight can be used varies from person to person and can be improved. Also, something unique about the main family is that they had inherited the powerful Chakra from their ancestor Hamura.
