In the fictional world created by Masashi Kishimoto – the world of Naruto – each of the five hidden villages is guarded by a leader known as a Kage. The Kage are usually the most powerful fighters in each of the villages and the title is passed over to the next best fighter after some time. The Kage of Konohagakure, Naruto’s village, is called a Hokage and in today’s article, we are going to tell you when exactly Naruto became Hokage. We already know from an earlier article that Naruto does become Hokage at one point but today, we are going to deal with the timeline of these events.

Naruto became Hokage at the age of 31, after 13 years of Kakashi’s reign in Konohagakure. That was Naruto’s childhood goal and, after 31 years, he finally became the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure.

Today’s article is going to focus on Naruto and his road to becoming the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure. You’re going to find out why he wanted to become Hokage, when he became Hokage and how old he was when he became Hokage. We’ve prepared an interesting article for you so stick with us to the end.

When does Naruto become Hokage?

Naruto’s childhood dream was to become Hokage of Konohagakure. The title of Hokage, as we know, is a very prestigious title given only to the most worthy and capable of fighters from each individual village. It is the highest honour a shinobi could attain during his lifetime.

Seeing how much he loved his village and his friends, Naruto wanted to do everything he could to protect them and the best way to take care of them was to become Hokage; this is why he worked so much and trained so hard – he had a goal to achieve. So, did Naruto become Hogake in the end? He did. Naruto Uzumaki finally became the Seventh Hokage, after inheriting the title from Kakashi Hatake, his friend, former mentor and the Sixth Hokage.

When did this happen? As we know from the subsequent materials, Kakashi’s term lasted for 13 years and he became Hokage after the Fourth Shinobi World War. Kakashi succeeded Tsunade exactly after the big conflict, so we have a rough outline as to the chronology of the events related to Naruto becoming Hokage.

In which episode does Naruto become Hokage?

As far as the exact moment when Naruto becomes the Seventh Hokage is concerned, it was not shown explicitly in any episode of Naruto: Shippuden. We know it happened, but the scene itself was never shown in the main anime. Still, there is an OVA (or ONA, however you want to look at it) called “The Day Naruto Became The 7th Hokage”, which you can watch in the video below. This OVA shows the ceremony through which Naruto became Hokage, but is not part of the main anime production, which is why it was released separately.

What age does Naruto become Hokage?

Now, this is a very tricky question as the dates aren’t really that obvious in Naruto. Still, unlike some franchises, it is possible to deduce the chronology from the events, since some events have a (rough) date, and thanks to Laudy Dorado from Quora, we now know Naruto’s exact age at the moment he became Hokage. Here’s the calculation:

Kakashi fell in love with Kahryo (sister of Gahro who are both Ice Style users like Haku). It was hinted Kahryo was Haku’s mother but was not confirmed. Might Guy assisted Kakashi surprisingly in the hot air balloon fightsDuring this mission, it was mentioned Hidden Grass Village’s Hozuki Castle/Blood Prison needs a new warden after Mui’s demise so Kahryo was suggested by Kakashi to the Leaf-Cloud-Grass higher-ups.

After the mission, Kakashi became Sixth Hokage at age 32.

In “The Last” movie, characters mentioned 2 years had passed so Naruto would be 19–20 here during his marriage with Hinata Hyuga. We can see Kakashi was already the Sixth Hokage for 2 years here. Naruto was already a Jounin here.

+1 year since “The Last” with Naruto & Hinata’s marriage, Hinata gave birth to their first son Boruto Uzumaki. Kakashi was on his 3 years term as Hokage while Naruto is still a Jounin and Hinata still a Chunin.

+5 years, Himawari was born 5 years younger than Boruto. Kakashi had 8 years as Hokage here.

+5 more years (2 years ago since start of Boruto series), Boruto was 10 while Himawari was 5 when Naruto was inaugurated as the Seventh Hokage. Naruto was 31 years old while Kakashi ended his 13 years reign in Konoha at the age of 47.

In Boruto series, Mist ninja Kagura Karatachi mentioned 15 years had passed since the Fourth Great Ninja War when he was born. This was the start of Boruto series, exactly 2 years since Naruto became the Seventh Hokage and Kakashi retired.

Naruto is 33 while Kakashi is 49 now in start of Boruto series.

So, to summarize – as we can deduce from the events in the anime and manga, Naruto Uzumaki was 31 years old when he became the Seventh Hokage, succeeding Kakashi in that position.

Did Naruto want to become Hokage?

Naruto Uzumaki is the main protagonist of the anime and manga Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto. He is a young ninja from the fictional village of Konohagakure. The villagers ridicule Naruto on account of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox—a malevolent creature that attacked Konohagakure during its history—that was sealed away in Naruto’s body.

Naruto’s story in the anime is quite specific, as he wanted to become Hokage from an early age, just like his friend and rival, Sasuke Uchiha. But the two of them had completely different goals in mind. While Sasuke craved for more power, Naruto understood that being a Hokage means responsibility and the ability to protect the village you are in charge of.

His father, Minato Namikaze, was the village’s Fourth Hokage, and in that respect, he fought the Fox with the help of a special technique, which he used to defeat Nine-Tails, and then used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal and locked the demon’s Yang half inside the boy, thereby sacrificing his life. Knowing that the people of Konohagakure would hate Naruto because he carried Kurama inside him, the Fourth Hokage told the previous, Third Hogake, Hiruzen Sarutobi, to convey to the villagers that they must respect Naruto and accept him as an equal because he indirectly participated in saving the village.

Naruto worked hard all his life in order to become the best shinobi. He did not do it for the power, but rather so he could protect the ones he cared about deeply. So yes, he definitely wanted to become Hokage and he deservedly did, thanks to his efforts in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
