Although the Devil Fruits are the best-known objects in the lore of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece series, there are numerous relevant objects that make up the lore. Most of them are either treasures or weapons, and in this article, we are going to talk about the latter group, as we bring you a list of the strongest swords in the world of One Piece. Some of these swords are truly amazing, and we are going to rank the 20 strongest one from weakest to strongest.

20. Sukesan and Kakusan

Owner: Kinemon

Sukesan and Kakusan are a pair of katanas wielded by Kin’emon. Sukesan and Kakusan are very similar katanas. They have a rectangular tsuba and flame-patterned scabbards. The blades are used by Kin’emon with his “Fire Fox” sword style. Kin’emon uses the katana one at a time as well as dual wielding. Kin’emon has possessed Sukesan and Kakusan at least since he was 23 years old.

During the battle with Kaidou on the rooftop of Onigashima, the swords were apparently lost as Kin’emon is later shown with different pairs of swords with circular tsuba.

19. Shichiseiken

Owner: Saga

Shichiseiken is the main antagonist of Movie 5. After his evil power entered Saga’s body, the Sword was destroyed on its own. It’s a cursed blade. The Shichiseiken is a powerful blade that was blood cursed when it was created. It grants immense power to its bearer, but corrupts its spirit. It can also merge with its wielder, giving it the ability to slash objects with its bare hands at any distance, becoming nearly unstoppable.

The blade is very durable, and just as Zoro’s Yaki Onigiri didn’t even leave a mark on it, Zoro himself states that his attack was meant to destroy the Shichiseiken.

18. Shigure

Owner: Tashigi

The Shigure is a katana belonging to the Meito category. It is currently owned by Tashigi. The Shigure is a katana with a green hilt and a hilt made up of four petals, or square sides. The blade itself is normal. The sheath is elaborate, the upper half being green and bumpy; the lower half is white and smooth. There are circular designs embedded all over the sheath.

In the manga, Shigure’s hilt and hilt are blue. Shigure hasn’t been shown in action often, but he seems to be quite tough as he can withstand the impact of a cannonball and deflect it.

17. Kashu

Owner: Mr. 11 → Tashigi

It is unknown how powerful this sword is, since it has never been seen used in combat, but it must be quite powerful since it is part of the 50 Ryo Wazamono.

16. Sandai Kitetsu

Like all swords made under Kitetsu’s name, this one is said to be cursed, and is supposed to bring horrible death to all its owners. The Sandai Kitetsu has a sharp edge, making it easier to use for cutting. When Zoro used it to test his luck against the curse, his previous owner tried to warn him that he would cut off his arm.

When the blade passed without harming Zoro, he slashed deep into the ground, leaving only a quarter of the blade sticking out of the ground. However, Zoro has commented that the sword has a mind of its own, making her a “troublesome girl”. It can also be noted that Zoro can “sense” the presence of this sword without even seeing it. After acquiring it Zoro uses this sword as one of his three for the santoryu.

15. Yubashiri

Yubashiri was an extremely light sword, but strong as Zoro mentioned that it was a “good katana” after seeing how easy it was to use. Its light weight allowed for quick actions and reflexes, while maintaining its sharpness for cutting power. Yubashiri was one of the three swords used by Zoro in the santoryu, and was normally used in conjunction with the Sandai Kitetsu in the two-sword style. When this sword was destroyed, Zoro replaced it with the Shusui.

When Sogeking accidentally cuffed Zoro’s right hand with some seastone handcuffs in the Battle of Enies Lobby, Zoro had to improvise and combined the Yubashiri with Sogeking to create the “hana sword arashi” (a pun on the long sword), the sword, using Sogeking as the hilt. Sogeking claimed that he made him dizzy when Zoro executed the attacks on him. Zoro returned to using the sword normally when they managed to get the keys and free themselves from the handcuffs.

14. Pretzel

Owner: Charlotte Cracker

Pretzel is Charlotte Cracker’s sword. He is unique and is one of the Meito. It is a long saber with a thin black handle. Cracker says he is unique, but he possesses several when battling Luffy, thanks to the power of the Bisu Bisu no Mi. When fighting, Cracker multiplies it and induces Armament Haki for certain techniques. Charlotte Cracker breaks into The Seducing Woods with Pretzel to kill Luffy’s group as well as his stepfather Pound. Cracker then engages in a fight with Luffy, and uses his power to multiply his saber and coat it with Haki.

13. Durandal

Owner: Cavendish

Durandal is known to be one of the Meito, the most powerful Sabers in the world. His exact rank is, for the moment, still unknown. It is owned by Cavendish. Durandal is a kind of court sword in length that could be compared to a rapier; it is almost equal to Cavendish’s height when the latter is seated. Its sheath and handle are colored vertically, with a black and white contrast. The handle is also adorned with several rings and carved flowers.

Durandal glistens in the sun and is made of a very flexible iron that allows it to withstand knocks that would break other swords. This sword is double-edged, powerful and resistant enough to counter Don Chinjao’s famous headbutt, which according to legend split an Arctic continent in two. She is also very flexible, bending to counter overpowering blows.

12. Oto and Kogarashi

Owner: Shiki

Oto and Kogarashi are the two Meito grade swords used by Shiki as replacements for his legs. Shiki was shown wielding his two swords with great skill. He was powerful enough to kill a massive amount of soldiers in Marineford, as well as taunt famous characters like Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Garp, or even Sengoku.

After his escape from Impel Down, the two swords became his new legs, he showed he could be able to kick out blades of air with these, similar to the Hurricane Foot technique members of CP9. These air blades have a yellow/orange color, matching Shiki’s epithet. He also combines his sword skills with his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, like slicing through a body of water.

11. Raiu

Owner: Shiryu

Raiu is a Nodachi who is part of the Meito. His name means “Storm”. It belongs to Shiryu. Little is known about the Raiu and its abilities. However, this saber must be powerful and also resistant since it is part of the Meito. He was taken from Shiryu when he was imprisoned on level 6 of Impel Down.

Shiryu retrieved it when Magellan freed him to fight Blackbeard and his crew, but Shiryu preferred to join the crew and become a pirate, killing several guards along with Raiu. Shiryu used it by surprise in Pirate Island against Moria when the latter was inattentive due to a trick by Catarina Devon.

10. Nidai Kitetsu

Owner: Kotetsu → Tenguyama Hitetsu, Monkey D. Luffy (temporary)

Nidai Kitetsu is a sword that is one of the 21 swords in the Ô Wazamono category. It is part of the cursed swords created by Kitetsu along with the Shodai Kitetsu and the Sandai Kitetsu. It was forged by Kotetsu. Little is known about the Nidai Kitetsu and its abilities. However, this saber must also be powerful and resistant since it is part of the 21 O Wazamono.

Like the other swords made by Kitetsu, this one is supposedly cursed and would cause the death of anyone who held it in their hands. Kotetsu, the ancestor of Tenguyama Hitetsu, forged this weapon a long time ago. it came into the possession of Tenguyama Hitetsu at some point. Luffy retrieved the Nidai Kitetsu from Tenguyama Hitetsu, who possessed it, to have a weapon to accompany O-Tama to see a doctor.

Luffy fought Basil Hawkins’ minions with this saber, except he didn’t use the blade but the fist that held the saber to strike his opponents. Kikunojo later retrieved the sword and brought it back to Tenguyama Hitetsu.

9. Wado Ichimonji

Owner: Shimotsuki Kozaburo → Kuina → Roronoa Zoro

Being one of the thirty-two best katanas in the world (eleven Saijo Ô Wazamono and twenty-one Ô Wazamono), the Wadô Ichimonji is an extremely powerful blade, in the hands of a competent swordsman. He is extremely tough, and has a durable blade, as indicated by Mihawk, when he destroyed both Zoro’s swords and only Zoro resisted.

Used by Zoro, this blade is the one he always places in his mouth. This blade is also the reason why Tashigi seeks to capture Zoro, as according to her, such a blade should not be in the hands of a pirate. Wadô Ichimonji was forged by Shimotsuki Kozaburo, who then left the Land of the Wa more than 50 years ago. The sword then came into the hands of Kuina who rarely used it.

Zoro asked his master Kōshiro to give him the sword and the latter accepted his student’s request after the death of his daughter. Currently, Tashigi is chasing Zoro for that same sword since she doesn’t understand why such a beautiful blade could fall into the hands of a pirate.

8. Shusui

Owner: Ryuma → Roronoa Zoro → Wano Country

As O Wazamono, Shusui is among the thirty-two best katanas in the world. It is considered the national treasure of Wano Country and is the sword that enabled the legendary samurai Ryuma’s exploits. After many battles by his side, the sword became a black blade. Before acquiring Enma, Zoro was convinced that Shusui was going to be decisive in the battle against Kaido’s Hundred Beasts Crew.

Ryuma’s zombie, having come to life thanks to Brook’s shadow, also uses the latter’s Swordsmanship Style. Combined with his original strength and the power of Shusui, Ryuuma totally reinvented this fighting style, making it far more formidable than the version Brook used. Besides, Zoro commented that if the fight had dragged on, Shusui would have broken his Wado Ichimonji and his Sandai Kitetsu, which are however both very good Meito.

This blade greatly increases the power of its user’s attacks. Zoro demonstrated this by first using Hyakuhachi Pound Ho against Oz; the blade of air created by Shusui was so great that it absorbed the blades of air from Zoro’s two other sabers, Wado Ichimonji and Sandai Kitetsu, to form a single blade of air with tenfold destructive power.

After receiving Shusui, Zoro stated that its greatest quality is its toughness and that even if a dinosaur stepped on it, the blade wouldn’t bend a millimeter. He demonstrated this by deflecting a punch from Oz with the blade in a horizontal position. As exceptional as this blade is, it still has several flaws.

Among them, its high weight, which requires some time to adapt. Indeed, Zoro immediately notices that it is significantly heavier than his old katana rusted by Shû, Yubashiri, and describes it as “difficult to handle”. Moreover, during his fight against Oz, he judged that he was not yet able to fully master this sword. Thanks to his intensive training with Dracule Mihawk, Zoro was able to overcome Shusui’s flaws, which then became his favorite blade. 7. Ame no Habakiri

Ame no Habakiri is a Meito that belonged to Kozuki Oden, who used it with another Meito, Enma. It is one of the 21 O Wazamono and was forged by Tenguyama Hitetsu who considers it his masterpiece. Masterpiece of swordsmith Tenguyama Hitetsu and one of the 21 O Wazamono, Ame no Habakiri is one of the best swords in the world.

Tenguyama Hitetsu described Ame no Habakiri as able to “slice the sky itself” (alongside Enma being able to “slice to the very depths of the underworld”). Ame no Habakiri offers tremendous cutting power when mastered perfectly. In Oden’s hands, she and Enma became the only known weapons to ever hurt Kaido leaving him with a massive scar.

41 years ago, at the age of 18, Oden used Ame no Habakiri (alongside Enma) to cleanly cut the giant mountain god, hardening him using Armament Haki. Additionally, Oden was able to use both of his swords to oppose Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri, Saijo Ô Wazamono grade naginata.

6. Enma

Owner: Roronoa Zoro

The masterpiece of legendary swordsmith Shimotsuki Kozaburo and one of the 21 O Wazamono, Enma is one of the best swords in the world, with Kozuki Hiyori considering it a worthy replacement even for the legendary Shuusui. Tenguyama Hitetsu described Enma as being able to “slice into the depths of the underworld” (alongside Ame no Habakiri being able to “slice the sky itself”).

Enma delivers tremendous cutting power when fully mastered. In Oden’s hands, she and Ame no Habakiri became the only known weapons to ever hurt Kaido leaving him with a massive scar. 41 years ago, at the age of 18, Oden used Enma (alongside Ame no Habakiri) to cleanly cut the giant mountain god, hardening him using Armament Haki. Additionally, Oden was able to use both of his swords to oppose Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri, Saijo Ô Wazamono grade naginata.

Enma has the particularity of drawing “Ryuo” (Armament Haki) from its wielder in excessive amounts when used, cutting much harder than intended. This makes him extremely unwieldy, so much so that before she was given to Zoro, Oden was the only one who had ever tamed Enma. After testing the saber for the first time, Zoro accidentally cut off a large section of the cliff while attempting to cut down just one tree, with Enma not only forcing hardening, but also emaciating his entire arm.

Hitetsu then noted that a normal swordsman trying to use Enma would be drained of all his Haki and turn it into a dry husk, but as Zoro demonstrates, with sufficient mastery of Haki, one can force the Haki extracted by Enma to flow back from the blade towards the user’s body. According to Hitetsu, if Zoro manages to make Enma a permanent Dark Blade, she might level up.

5. Gryphon

Owner: Shanks

Gryphon is a saber belonging to Shanks. Gryphon is a longer than average saber, with a long green handle and beige hilt. Shanks keeps it in a blue holster clipped to his waist on the right side. Gryphon is a powerful saber, standing up to Edward Newgate’s bisento. This conflict released such force that it split the clouds of the sky in two, but the sword was not damaged at all. When coated in Haki, he can resist Sakazuki’s lava.

4. Shodai Kitetsu

Owner: Kitetsu

The Shodai Kitetsu is one of the 12 Saijo Ô Wazamono. It is part of the cursed swords created by Kitetsu along with the Nidai Kitetsu and the Sandai Kitetsu. It hasn’t made an appearance yet. Shodai literally means “First Generation” because the Shodai Kitetsu is the first sword in the Kitetsu series. She is unknown, but she must have an appearance quite similar to that of the Sandai Kitetsu.

Nothing is known about her but as she is one of the 12 Saijo Ô Wazamono (like Mihawk’s Kokuto Yoru), she must have significant powers. Since this saber is among the 12 most powerful swords, it must be very strong. Part of the “Kitetsu”, it is a cursed sword that brings death to its owners.

3. Murakumogiri

Owner: Edward Newgate / Whitebeard

Murakumogiri is the name of Edward Newgate’s Naginata and one of the 12 best quality Meito, the Saijo Ô Wazamono. With Whitebeard’s massive powers and fighting skills, the Bisento is a formidable weapon and is quite powerful. As proof, this one allows him to measure himself against Shanks’ saber which caused an atmospheric type tear in the sky when the two blades crossed.

Whitebeard can wield it just as well with one hand as with both hands. The naginata can be empowered with its user’s Armament Haki, or with its Devil Fruit to increase its destructive power. Being one of the 12 Saijo Ô Wazamono, the 12 highest grade blades among the Meito, Murakumogiri’s blade is among the strongest in the world.

She withstood the magma attacks that Whitebeard received from Akainu without difficulty, thus showing her resistance. The blade also took a two-handed load from John Giant without shaking. Two years after being left at the site of Whitebeard’s grave, the blade is visibly undamaged.

2. Yoru

Owner: Dracule Mihawk

The Yoru, often called Kokuto Yoru, is a sword that is among the most powerful Sabers in the world. It belongs to the category of 12 Saijo Ô Wazamono and is the property of Mihawk, a former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. It’s a black blade. In the anime, it is described by Tashigi as being one of the best swordsmen in the world.

Combined with the very great physical strength of its user, Kokuto Yoru seems to be able to slice through anything the latter desires, even gigantic things, such as Don Krieg’s flagship or the tsunami frozen by Admiral Aokiji during the Battle of Marineford. Mihawk uses it subtly, however, easily deflecting bullets aimed at him with his blade. He can notably attack from a distance by creating sharp air blades or whirling air blades.

The only thing that effectively stopped one of Kokuto Yoru’s attacks was Joz, commander of the Whitebeard Pirates’ Third Fleet, who blocked one of his attacks with his diamond body. As a saber with a black blade, this weapon is then known to be simply indestructible as Roronoa Zoro revealed: “They say that the black blades are so strong that the charge of a rabid dinosaur would not even chip them “.

1. Ace

Owner: Gol D. Roger

Ace is a saber worn by Pirate King Gol D. Roger, who used it as his primary weapon in combat. It is one of the 12 best quality Meito, the Saijo Ô Wazamono. Ace is a full-sized saber, with a slightly curved blade, with an ornate saw pattern on both sides.
