Most people know ‘Twisted Metal’ as the fun and action-packed video game that took over the world in the 1990s; however, the streaming service, Peacock, dropped the first season of the live-action TV series of the same name – and it is extremely fun. The show’s star is Anthony Mackie, whom we see in the more comedic role of John Doe, known as ‘Milkman.’ Besides Mackie, we have another great actor as a deuteragonist, Quiet, played Stephanie Beatriz, whom we know for the successful police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This article will discuss Beatriz’s role as Quiet in ‘Twisted Metal’ TV series.

Stephanie Beatriz is playing Quiet, a woman who, with her brother, Loud, is trying to survive the dangerous world after the mysterious computer bug destroyed the world that we knew of. Quiet’s life worsens when her brother Loud sacrifices himself to save her from Agent Stone and his tyrannic rule. Since then, Quiet is keen to revenge on her late brother and hunt for Agent Stone, and on her journey, she meets John Doe, the Milkman.

‘Twisted Metal’ is an extremely fun series showcasing another perspective of the post-apocalyptic and chaotic world that is brutal yet lighthearted at moments. Stephanie Beatriz’s Quiet is another great part of the show, so we will discuss her character in more detail. Beware of spoilers for ‘Twisted Metal’ series.

Who is Quiet in the ‘Twisted Metal’ series?

‘Twisted Metal’ is comedy-adventure series inspired by the cult gaming franchise of the same name. The ‘Twisted Metal’ game from 1995 isn’t very story-driven but a so-called demolition derby where players take their weapon-modified vehicles and fight against each other in the arena. The TV series had to think of a solid storyline and characters to make the project coherent, and frankly, the showrunners did a really good job.

The decent storyline and a steady plot flow in season one are what make ‘Twisted Metal’ fun, but the actor duo of Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz carry the show. Their dynamic is a bit slow at the beginning of the season, but as the show progresses, we learn more about the characters, which makes their relationship closer than ever.

Twisted Metal: Who Is Quiet? Meet Stephanie Beatriz’s Character

The mysterious woman is named Quiet by John Doe, and we still don’t know her real name. However, her backstory makes more sense from episode 6, where we briefly learn that Quiet and her brother Loud (another nickname) grew up in the fields of Orange County Farmlands in California, harvesting oranges for a living. Quiet becomes sick of her life and gets the contract that ensures she and Loud work in the establishment for two years to get their own big break and have their own business in Orange County.

However, when they arrive at The O.C. Beachlands to work at the Astral Burger fast food restaurant, Quiet and Loud quickly realize that they are essentially slaves and prisoners of the richer community. Any time the servants made a mistake, their fingers would be cut off and worn by their “masters” as jewelry. After Loud makes a mistake and his ear is cut off by his “master,” Quiet arrives and saves him, killing everyone in her way.

Since then, the duo has tried to find a secure community but had to fend for themselves, including stealing and looting other people. At one point, Quiet and Loud unknowingly stumbled upon John Doe, who was doing his Milkman job trying to rob him of his possessions.

However, on their journey, they stumbled upon Agent Stone, a former mall cop who rose to the “top of the food chain” and used his strict law and nature to establish a tyranny in Nevada. Agent Stone wants to execute both siblings, but Loud kills himself to save his sister.

Since then, Quiet has hunted for the vicious man since her brother died, which leads her to the inevitable meeting with John Doe. Quiet and John Doe butt heads when they meet, with the silent woman trying to sabotage John and his mission.

The mysterious woman is silent on their reluctant journey, prompting John to give her the nickname Quiet. Throughout the season, Quiet opens up more toward John and the audience, and we learn that she can be far from silent when the situation calls for it. From silent killer to vicious and surprisingly quirky fighter, Quiet evolves in season one of ‘Twisted Metal.’

Is Quiet alive at the end of season one?

After the falling out with John Doe at the end of episode 8, Quiet continues on her way, but the duo comes back together on their journey to New San Francisco. Agent Stone starts attacking the convoy on the journey to the city, and we see an epic battle that truly reminds us of the original game from 1995.

However, the reveal at the end of the season finale separates the couple once again, but Quiet finds a new purpose; she decides that outsiders have power and goes on to get a better life.

Of course, season one heavily sets up the season two plot, which will revolve around the main part of the original ‘Twisted Metal’ game – the demolition derby.
