The Miraculous Ladybug series has been one of the most popular franchises in the last five years, especially with children and teenagers. Of course, the characterization and great storytelling propelled the cartoon into stardom, and more projects from different media started “popping” out. The popular series is currently airing its fifth season, but it’s been confirmed that Miraculous Ladybug Adventures will continue into season eight.

Since ‘Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie’ has already been released, it prompted us to check out Miraculous Lady Bug books which include great storylines and adventures of two young Parisian superheroes. Here are all Miraculous Ladybug books in order.

How many Miraculous Ladybug books are out there?

At the moment of writing this article, there are 22 different books released since 2016 by Zag Entertainment. Of course, each book retells the story of the Miraculous Ladybug popular TV series and some new adventures that fans couldn’t see in the show. There are also two books, one of which is a guide, and the other is the novelization of the new Miraculous Ladybug movie, making it 22 in total.

Since ‘Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie’ got released on Netflix recently, it also got its own book which we will add to the book read order. Each book has over 150 pages, most of which are available in hard and digital copies, mostly suited for Kindle.

Moreover, the franchise has quite a successful manga and other forms of media, which we will leave for the next article. If you are interested, stay with us until the end. Declaimer: there is another book series, but it is only in French, so we will focus on graphic novels or books that contain Miraculous Ladybug stories.

Miraculous Ladybug books in order – at a glance

As the show, Miraculous Ladybug books mostly revolve around the main characters, Marinette and Adrien, also known as Parisian superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir. With their special Miraculouses, every individual has unique powers that transform each bearer of the artifact into a superpowered being.

Of course, our main heroes deal with their own problems, mostly including the major villain, Gabriel Agreste, Adrien’s father, who owns a major fashion company in Paris, but is also an obsessed man who seeks the strongest Miraculous artifacts.

During the series, we meet other major villains but Monarch, Hawk Moth, and other aliases of Gabriel Agreste, who terrorizes everyone, especially his archnemesis Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Are Miraculous Ladybug books connected? Do you need to read them in a specific order?

If you decide to read Miraculous Ladybug books, we suggest that the release date order is the best method of reading about two French superheroes. Each book has at least 150 pages, and it basically showcases the collection of Miraculous Ladybug adventures.

1. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (2016)

The first book simply titled ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir,’ tells the story of teenage girl Marinette, who tries to juggle her high school life, and try to become the esteemed fashion designer in Paris, the fashion capital of the world.

However, she is also a superhero called Ladybug, for which transformation she needs a special creature, “kwami” and an artifact called Miraculous. During her efforts to stop the villain Hawk-Moth, who uses Akumazation to transform people into villains, Ladybug meets Cat Noir, for whom she develops a crush. Ladybug and Cat Noir decide to work together to stop the notorious villain.

2. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Spots On (2016)

The second book, titled ‘Spots On,’ tells the story of Ladybug and Cat Noir in a new adventure, this time trying to protect Paris from the villains Roger Cop and Pigeon, who are two of the many akumazited citizens of Paris by Hawk Moth.

Roger Cop tries to take over the leadership of Paris by ensuring the tyrannical regime, while Pigeon tries to create a huge natural reservation for the birds he communicates with. Ladybug and Cat Noir must join forces to stop Hawk Moth and his underlings as fast as possible.

3. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Claws Out (2017)

The third book, ‘Claws Out,’ focuses more on Cat Noir, who once again joins forces with Ladybug to stop multiple villains sent their way, one of them his evil doppelganger, Copycat.

Stakes are much higher because the superhero duo needs to fight against Pharaoh, a powerful villain that bears the powers of Ancient Egypt gods, and Timebreaker, the villain that manipulates time. Ladybug and Cat Noir’s partnership is tested when Hawk Moth arrives again and tries to take superheroes’ Miraculouses for himself.

4. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Akumatized (2017)

Akumatization is a process with which Hawk Moth uses Butterfly Miraculous and transforms normal people into powerful creatures. In this book, Ladybug and Cat Noir continue their fight against the Hawk Moth and his akumatized villains. New villains, like Dark Cupid, Horrificator, and Le Mime, will test our heroes as no one did before.

5. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Lucky Charm (2017)

‘Lucky Charm’ book follows two Parisian superheroes once again trying to stop Hawk Moth’s evil creations, and one of them proves to be really difficult. Ladybug and Cat Noir fight it out against Princess Fragrance, who uses perfume to brainwash people.

Darkblade is another villain who creates his own army to take over the main city building, and Animan, who can transform into any animal he sees.

6. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Cataclysm (2017)

This time, three villains transformed by Hawk Moth attack Paris simultaneously – Simon Says, Pixelator, and Guitar Villain. Simon Says vows that he can make anyone do what he wants, while two musical villains hold a grudge against each other, and Ladybug and Cat Noir must join forces to stop them from destroying the whole city.

7. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Bug Out (2018)

The series continues with three new villains. One of them, Antibug, was created after Ladybug “offended” her and tried to seek revenge against the superhero. Of course, Antibug has the same powers as Ladybug and proves to be a hard opponent for the experienced superhero.

More villains start terrorizing everyone, Puppeteer, Evil Illustrator, and the returnee Roger Cop, while Lila becomes the villain Volpina after she is humiliated in front of her crush Adrien Agreste.

8. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: de-Evilize (2018)

With more villains on the way, more innocent people enter the fight against Ladybug and Cat Noir. This book follows Marinette’s uncle Wang Cheng, a famous chef who is transformed into Kung Food – the villain whose food takes victims under his control.

Kung Food continues his attack on Paris by creating a major robot and gets allies with three villains – Gamer and Reflekta.

9. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Chosen One (2018)

The book ‘The Chosen One’ is closely connected to season two of the ‘Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir’ TV series, and it follows Marinette and her discovery of her superhero persona Ladybug. Moreover, she meets more kwamis and sees Master Fu, while Adrien is at odds with his father after losing his important book.

Hawk Moth gets a cameo as well and makes a shocking reveal.

10. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Bye Bye, Little Butterfly! (2018)

Chloé gets in trouble and tries to be more polite to others. However, that doesn’t go well, and she fights against an akumatized victim called Despair Bear.

Adrien deals with a new fencer at his school who challenges him to a duel, but after she loses, Hawk Moth uses that advantage and turns her into Riposte, a powerful being with amazing swordsmanship skills. Ladybug and Cat Noir once again need to join forces to save everyone.

11. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: No More Evil-Doing (2018)

Like the previous book, this one is also set in season two, and this one tells the story of Marinette’s birthday, whose grandmother surprisingly visits her. However, after seeing that she doesn’t know her granddaughter that much, Hawk Moth uses the opportunity to turn her into Befana, a motorcycle-riding villain.

12. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Gotcha! (2019)

‘Gotcha!’ tells the story of Ladybug and Cat Noir going on two exciting adventures, which see their principal, Mr. Damocles trying to become a superhero Dark Owl. Of course, the man embarrasses himself in front of the best Parisian superheroes, and Hawk Moth uses that opportunity to turn him into a villain that will hunt down Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Gigantitan is the second villain of the story, a baby that was accidentally akumatized by Hawk Moth, and two superheroes must deal with another threat to Paris.

13. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: A New Hero Emerges (2019)

More deadly foes are against our heroes; this time, they fight a giant ice-cream snowman who terrorizes the whole city of Paris, which leads Ladybug and Cat Noir to act like they are a couple.

Fans of the pairing will most certainly love this book.

14. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Love Compass (2019)

Two more novelized episodes from season two feature Marinette and Adrien going to movies, which is interrupted by an akumatized bodyguard and Marinette meeting Luka for the first time.

15. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Tear of Joy (2019)

When Marinette creates a lovely gift for her teacher, Chloé arrives and ruins the nice gesture. Hawk Moth targets Marinette and tries to use her sadness against her. Another adventure sees Marinette’s classmate being oblivious to the feelings of their colleague, meaning that Hawk Moth strikes again.

16. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Double Trouble (2019)

This time, Marinette and Adrien are picked to play Ladybug and Cat Noir in the music video, making their jobs so much easier. However, the singer gets akumatized, and everything gets more complicated.

Jagged Stone’s assistant always fixes everything until she transforms into a villain.

17. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Bugheads (2020)

Spider-like villain strikes Paris, which leads to Cat Noir being trapped and Ladybug trying to seek help.

The nightmare-fueled villain attacks Paris after Hawk Moth uses the young boys’ weakness, while Marinette and Adrien cannot transform into superheroes without their kwamis.

18. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Skating on Thin Ice (2020)

Chloé’s mother, Audrey, is humiliated on the fashion show after Adrien showcases superior skill, which makes Hawk Moth turn the woman into Style Queen.

Queen Bee (Chloé) first appears, but she struggles to be a true hero. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir come to the rescue.

20. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir: Heroes’ Day (2020)

This isn’t necessarily a book in the form we previously listed, but “Kwamis” is the official guidance book released last year, and it includes all kwami creatures featured in the Miraculous Ladybug franchise.

It’s a really educational book showcasing the show’s worldbuilding, which has expanded significantly since it first started airing in 2016.

22. Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie: The Movie Novel (2022)

Finally, we have the official novelization of the new ‘Miraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie,’ which is already available to watch in some parts of the world and will most likely be available in the U.S. later this July. Nevertheless, if you cannot wait for the movie to arrive in your country or region, check out the so-called movie novel that was already released in October of 2022.

Where to read Miraculous Ladybug books?

This might be hard for some fans, but Miraculous Ladybug books are most certainly available in hardcopies at various libraries across the globe. However, most people can acquire digital copies of books on Amazon, or if you have Kindle, acquire the book to read it on the notable reading platform.

Digital is how it is today, but owning hard copies of something one can showcase on their bookshelves is always cool.

Will there be more Miraculous Ladybug books?

There most likely will be more Miraculous Ladybug books since ZAG Entertainment has been releasing Miraculous Ladybug content consistently over the years, especially in the form of manga, comic books, and in this context, books.

Since we know that the Miraculous Ladybug show will continue, so much so that season eight was announced a few months ago, although the series is still airing season five.
