Ne’er a More Imperfect Union
Should old acquaintances be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
A fitting song, I think, to be singing on this, Constitution Day 2007. It seems a day to reminisce about the times — years ago now — when “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” was what we expected and got from those we put in office.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
